• On Monday, the Rangers’ Adolis García became only the fourth player to hit multiple home runs in a winner-take-all Game 7. He joined Yogi Berra for the Yankees in the 1956 World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers, Jason Giambi for the Yanks in the 2003 ALCS against the Red Sox and Johnny Damon for the Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS against the Yankees.

Game 6 world series
In the World Series, Jackson hit five home runs in the final three games – driving in eight runs and finishing with a record 25 total bases. He was named World Series MVP for the second time in his career, matching his performance in the 1973 World Series with the Oakland Athletics.
The 1986 World Series marked the second time, after the previous year’s series, in which the winning team lost the first two games of the series at home. It was also the first World Series to use the designated hitter only in games played at the American League representative’s stadium, a policy that was maintained until the National League’s adoption of the DH in 2022.
• No pitcher has saved more than one Game 7 in his career. The most innings pitched to save a Game 7 were the five scoreless frames hurled by Madison Bumgarner in his instant-classic performance to close out the Giants’ 2014 World Series victory over the Royals.
Game 2 world series
Freeman, still nursing that sprained right ankle, went deep again, and this time he had the company of NLCS MVP Tommy Edman and All-Star Teoscar Hernández and the backing of 6 1/3 one-hit innings from Yamamoto. The party quieted when Ohtani went down, and the Yankees had everybody on the edge of their seats when they plated a run and loaded the bases in the ninth. But the Dodgers protected their home turf.
Even though he’s in the lineup, it remains to be seen if Ohtani is at the full extent of his capabilities. But either way, the Dodgers are in a great position in this Series. Both games at Dodger Stadium came down to a bases-loaded situation, and they both ended with an L.A. victory. Now, the Dodgers are just two wins away from their second World Series title in the last five years and their first in a full season since 1988.
Yankees: Jose Trevino got the start in Game 3 over Austin Wells, who has gone 4-for-41 this postseason and 1-for-8 over the first two World Series games. Rizzo and Volpe flipped spots in the order from Games 1 and 2.
Ohtani became the first player with 50 homers and 50 stolen bases, batting .310 with 54 homers, 130 RBIs and 59 steals. He was voted the AL’s outstanding player in 2021 and 2023 when he was with the Los Angeles Angels and won the overall player of the year in 2021.
New York staged a comeback attempt in the top of the ninth inning. With Soto on second, Giancarlo Stanton singled to drive him in and cut the deficit to two runs. Jazz Chisholm then singled to right to have runners on first and second with one out. Los Angeles reliever Blake Treinen followed by hitting Anthony Rizzo to load the bases for Anthony Volpe, but Volpe struck out. Alex Vesia replaced Treinen and got Jose Trevino to fly out to centerfield.
