World game
From a bad-blood battle between the Dodgers and Padres in the NLDS — ending in Los Angeles overcoming its rival in Game 5 at home — to numerous Shohei Ohtani home runs, from the underdog Mets taking down their division foe Phillies 3-1 to the Tigers’ survival through the Wild Card round before they fell to Cleveland in five, the incoming World Series has a lot to live up to https://justsugarphotography.com/the-deadly-dentist-who-thought-he-could-get-away-with-murder-again/.
“Takes just one,” said Aaron Judge, an enormous man facing enormous scrutiny for his 1-for-12 showing with seven strikeouts in this Series. “All it takes is one swing, one at-bat, one play. Everything changes for us. That’s just the mindset you’ve got to have going into this.”
But what happened 20 years ago forever remains a reminder that a 3-0 series can still be salvaged for the trailing team. For the Yankees to pull that off, their lumbering lineup, which is batting .186 as a team in this World Series, is going to have to get it going in a game in which the Dodgers will be going the all-reliever route.
The 2021 World Series is over, and the Atlanta Braves are champions, defeating the Houston Astros in six games. The Braves, who came into the postseason as a bit of a dark horse, found their groove against the best baseball had to offer. They’re celebrating their fourth championship as a franchise and their first since 1995.

“I’m still numb,” said the first baseman, who hit a home run in his final at-bat of the World Series and the final at-bat of his current contract, because that’s the sort of things icons do, and no, it’s not too soon to call Freeman an iconic Brave. His teammates will tell you as much.
Who is hot and who is not?Dodgers: Freeman continues his dominant World Series run, hitting a homer in all four games against the Yankees. The star first baseman has now hit a homer in six consecutive games in the Fall Classic, a new record. He also has 10 RBIs in the four games. If the Dodgers wrap it up, Freeman will likely be taking home his first World Series MVP trophy.

Game 1 of the World Series will be played Oct. 25. Game 2 will take place the following day. After an off day Oct. 27, the series will resume with games each day from the 28th to the 30th. Monday, Oct. 31—Halloween—would be an off day, with Game 6 coming Nov. 1 and a possible Game 7 taking place Nov. 2.
“No one’s done what we’re trying to accomplish ,” said catcher Austin Wells, “so I think if you put too much pressure on it at this point, you’re going to fail yourself, and you’re not going to enjoy the journey. I think seeing what happens and having fun is where we’re at.”

“Hopefully we can go be this amazing story and shock the world,” New York manager Aaron Boone said. “But right now it’s about trying to get a lead, trying to grab a game, and force another one, and then on from there. But we’ve got to grab one first.”
• Part of what kept Buehler scoreless was an assist to home by Teoscar Hernández in the fourth. At 93.9 mph, it was the third-fastest tracked World Series outfield assist under Statcast (2015), behind 94.9 mph by Hunter Renfroe of the Rays in 2020 and 94.6 mph by the Rangers’ Adolis García last year. It was also the third-fastest tracked outfield assist of Hernández’s career, including the playoffs, behind a 94.8 mph assist in 2016 and 94.0 mph in 2022.

Game 2 world series
I wouldn’t say Framber Valdez is cruising, but he’s getting it done. Three innings, and none has been perfect. But he has allowed just one baserunner per inning – a walk in both the first and second and a single in the third. And he has struck out 5 Phillies.
The D-backs have avoided the dreaded (but not insurmountable) 2-0 series deficit. The best-of-seven has been reduced to a best-of-five and the D-backs now have home-field advantage. Chase Field will host Games 3-5. Sunday is an off-day, then the World Series will resume Monday night. Rookie Brandon Pfaadt (3-9, 5.72 ERA) and future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer (13-6, 2.77 ERA ) are expected to start in what will be a matchup of extremely different resumes.
As for the bunts … well, Kiké Hernández dropped down a beautiful one for the Dodgers in the seventh inning, a classic deaden-the-ball-on-the-bat job, the way your high school coach taught you how to do it. It moved runners to second and third with one out exactly like it was supposed to … and then the Dodgers still didn’t score. (And may have gotten Clay Holmes settled in by giving him an out.) I know you all got excited by some 90s baseball there for a second, but this series, moving forward, will still be settled the 2024 way.
The D-backs released Nick Ahmed in September, at which point Marte became the team’s longest-tenured player. He has been their best player this postseason — he and Yordan Alvarez have been the two best players in the postseason period — and now he has a record hitting streak to his name. Marte has stood out all October.
That might not sound like much, but only five of the 26 teams that have dropped Game 1 of the Fall Classic in the Wild Card era (dating to 1995) have gone on to win it. So Houston’s Game 2 starter, José Urquidy, has to give the Astros better than what they received from Framber Valdez in the opener.
