New world game
Don Larsen was a mediocre pitcher at best, going 81-91 with a 3.78 earned-run average in 14 seasons, and he was so bad in his first World Series start in 1956 that he was pulled in the second inning after giving up four runs in a 13-8 Game 2 loss to the Brooklyn Dodgers slots of empire.
Stanton’s 2-run home run silenced the Dodgers fans briefly but with Nirvana playing on the loudspeaker and Jennifer Lawrence on the big screen, fans are back on their feet waving blue towels during the bottom of the sixth.
Back in 1988, the Dodgers rode that famous Kirk Gibson walk-off in Game 1 to a convincing 6-0 victory in Game 2, en route to a five-game Series win – still their most recent in a full season. Will history repeat itself, or will the Yankees respond?
What is the best game in the world
It’s been almost a decade since GTA V launched and there’s still not an urban open-world game that even comes close. Its heist-based single-player, which weaves the stories of three separate protagonists together, still holds up today, and GTA Online is bigger and better than ever. An iconic soundtrack, inventive missions, brilliant characters, and a sprawling world that you can almost draw from memory, nobody does it quite like Rockstar.
Whether you’re following the intricate sci-fi plot or just in it for the big explosions and satisfying first-person shootin,g it has it all. Pull your friends into a Discord group, make sure your schedules align, and make your excuses with loved ones – Destiny 2 has the capacity to dominate your free time, especially when you start gearing up for the Nightfall Strikes, Raids, and blood-bath that is the Crucible.
It’s fitting that Nintendo would send one Zelda to topple another Zelda from its perch of «best video game of all time.» That’s the approach it took with Breath of the Wild, the game that helped launch the company’s new Switch console into the stratosphere. A celebration of Zelda’s history and a brave new direction for the series, the key selling point of Breath of the Wild is its sandbox that gave players unfettered access to its gorgeous environments within mere minutes of starting. Five years later, and fans are still discovering new secrets, as this award-winning entry in the series continues to be a rewarding world to explore. Yes, based on the number of reviews, you could argue that Breath of the Wild is the better reviewed game versus Ocarina of Time.
Fortnite has been with us for over five years, but in that relatively short time it’s become part of the furniture. Everyone has heard of Fortnite, my mum has heard of Fortnite, so we know it’s something of a big deal. Given its size you could be forgiven for thinking Epic Games would settle down on their winning formula, but new mechanics, new items, and new quests are constantly popping up in this 100-player battle royale, and it is thriving.
Need for Speed: Underground 2 is a bit like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater in the sense that it managed to define the music tastes of a generation. Skindred’s Nobody is an undisputed banger, and this was the first place many would hear of it. What about Riders on the Storm, with Snoop Dogg and The Doors? GOAT track, honestly. Oh yeah, there was also a bunch of fast cars, and “open-world” exploration mode, and it capitalized on the Pimp My Ride car modification scene of the time. Spinners in the rims? Dated, but hard not to love.
Game 5 world series 2024
Now let’s steer away from the fifth inning and look at all the messy stuff the Yankees spewed all over the box score: three errors, a catcher’s interference (which, of course, is also one of the errors) and a balk (on Luke Weaver).
Unfortunately for the Yankees, a team with the second-most expensive roster in MLB (behind only their crosstown rival Mets), they beat themselves with a litany of errors. Despite Aaron Judge’s resurgence, with a first-inning home run to break a drought at the plate, New York couldn’t seal the deal after ace Gerrit Cole gave up the lead in his 6.1-inning appearance.
Following a historic performance with four home runs in the final series, Freddie Freeman was named the decisive series MVP. Not only was he dealing with a lingering ankle issue sustained in the team’s final regular-season series against San Diego, he is coming off a year in which his son Max was diagnosed with a rare condition called Gullian-Barre syndrome.
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ 4-2 victory over the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the Fall Classic averaged 13.64 million viewers on Fox, Fox Deportes and streaming according to early numbers by Nielsen. That beat the 13.4 million that tuned in for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 26-18 win over the New York Giants on ABC, ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ESPN2 and streaming.
